The PNWPEPS which stands for Pacific North West Palm and Exotic Plant Society, was founded in 1984, and is a chapter of The International Palm Society Inc. Expert enthusiasts               Jeffs Palm Garden Jeff feels the tug of the sub-tropics with its lush foliage. So in his yard you will find plants that provide a similar feel and look of the sub-tropics. For Jeff St. Gelais that is large-leaved Rhodos, Camelias, Hibiscus, Agaves and Hydrangea and unique plants like Tetrapanax. And of course, we couldn't leave out Palm Trees. Lots of palm trees like the familiar Trachycarpus fortunei and the not so familiar Trachycarpus wagnerianus [Waggie], Butia capitata, Jubaea chilensis, Sabal palm, Brahea edulis and armata. I could go on. He is dedicated to his plant interests and I suspect quite content here on Vancouver Island. Waggie seeds are available from his own trees.  Visit his web site where you can see photos of his prized plants and learn how to obtain the seeds. BananaJSSI - YouTube Does Joe Clemente like palm trees and other exotic plants? Was Michelangelo an artist? Joe has in-depth knowledge of plants and can rattle off the Latin names of a dozen plants in mere seconds. He is truly dedicated to growing palm trees and exotic plants on the southern  Gulf Islands of Canada. Joe is also a Tiki Carver and a Parks worker for the Capital Regional District at Salt Spring Island Parks and Recreation.  He lives on Salt Spring Island and can be found on Facebook where you can follow his adventures on Salt Spring Island and far-away sub-tropical “hot” spots. Just type in Banana Joe Clemente. And if it’s palm tree seedlings you want, Joe has them by the thousands. You can e-mail him about seedlings at: bananajoe@telus.net. and also arrange for a custom Tiki Carving for yourself or as a novel gift.
